Markgrafenmuseum

Ansbach, Bayern

Two stories run through this museum in Ansbach: the foundling Kaspar Hauser, and the town's days as the seat of the Brandenburg-Ansbach margraves. The ground floor shows Hauser's personal belongings and traces his life and the theories about where he came from, without claiming to settle the question. Upstairs, the focus turns to the Hohenzollern margraves, including portraits of the rulers. The museum occupies the Schnitzleinshof, which dates back to the 15th century, along with an annexe whose fabric goes back to the 14th.
