LWL-Industriemuseum

Rather than sitting under one roof, this industrial museum is spread across nine sites in Westphalia and Lippe, each in a real place of work: coal mines in Dortmund, Bochum and Witten, the Henrichenburg ship lift in Waltrop, the Henrichshütte ironworks in Hattingen, a textile mill in Bocholt, a brickworks in Lage, a glassworks in Petershagen and an ore mine in Bestwig. Together they follow the industrial age from its beginnings to the present. Several sites are anchor points on the European Route of Industrial Heritage and the Ruhr region's industrial heritage route, so visits combine well into a longer tour.
