Kalkofenmuseum (Untermarchtal)

Before big cement works took over, lime for plaster and mortar came from small local kilns. Untermarchtal has the last surviving small lime works with a shaft kiln in the Alb-Donau region, carefully restored to its original state. You can see the kiln with its seven-metre chimney and the attached workshop hall, where the largely original equipment for slaking, sieving and bagging lime is kept. On guided tours, it is put into operation for visitors.
