Josef-Hegenbarth-Archiv

Dresden, Sachsen

This is the house where the graphic artist and painter Josef Hegenbarth lived and worked from 1921 until his death in 1962, and it now presents his art in the very rooms where he made it, studio included. The building began as a winegrower's house before 1839 and stands on the lower Elbe slopes in Loschwitz, a few hundred metres from the river. It belongs to the Kupferstich-Kabinett of the Dresden State Art Collections. The Leonhardi Museum and the Schillerhäuschen are close by, so it fits easily into a walk through Loschwitz.
