Historisches Schuhmuseum

Landsberg am Lech, Bayern

About 2,000 shoes from eight centuries fill the two rooms of this small private museum in Landsberg: folk-costume shoes, pointed medieval shoes and footwear from around the world. Shoes once worn by well-known figures, among them Ludwig II of Bavaria and Elisabeth of Austria, are on show, along with 500 shoehorns. The collection comes from a master shoemaker whose family has run a shoe shop in town since 1625.
