Haus Wahnfried

Bayreuth, Bayern

Richard Wagner lived here from 1874 to 1883, at the edge of Bayreuth's Hofgarten park. His motto naming the house is engraved across the front. Since 1976 the villa, largely a gift from King Ludwig II of Bavaria, has housed the Richard Wagner Museum on the composer's life and work. Wagner and his wife Cosima are buried in the garden.
