Franz-Liszt-Museum

Bayreuth, Bayern

Franz Liszt stayed here whenever he came to Bayreuth, and it is where he died in 1886. The plain red-brick house, built in 1877, stands right next to Haus Wahnfried, home of his son-in-law Richard Wagner. On the raised ground floor, in Liszt's former apartment, the museum has presented the life and work of the pianist, conductor and composer since 1993, including a collection of some 300 items bought by the city in 1988.
