Haus Lemke

Berlin, Berlin

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed this single-storey, L-shaped brick house by the Obersee for the Lemke couple in 1933. It was his last private house in Germany before he emigrated to the United States. The facade is of reddish brick, and some of the furnishings came from Mies's studio or were designed by Lilly Reich. Today the house is used as an exhibition space for contemporary art.
