Grünes Gewölbe
Dresden, Sachsen
The former treasury of the Saxon rulers holds jewels and precious objects from the Renaissance to Classicism, the largest such collection in Europe. The name comes from the malachite-green paint once applied to the column bases and capitals of the original rooms. The collection has been open to the public since 1724, making it one of the oldest museums anywhere.
