Graacher Tor

Bernkastel-Kues, Rheinland-Pfalz

The Graach Gate is the only surviving town gate of Bernkastel-Kues, built around 1300 as part of the town's defences. Inside, a local history museum shows cultural-history exhibits from the area. The passage was remodelled in the Baroque style and given a mansard roof, and over the centuries the building served as a prison and a shelter for the homeless. It makes a compact stop for anyone curious about the town's past.
