Geigenbaumuseum Mittenwald

Mittenwald, Bayern

Mittenwald has lived by violin making since the 17th century, and this museum tells the story. It shows violins, violas and cellos, mostly from the Baroque period, including instruments by Matthias Klotz, founder of Mittenwald's violin making, and his descendants and pupils. There is also a historic workshop, the steps of building a violin, and scent samples of the materials used. The house is one of the oldest in the village.
