Freilichtmuseum Zeitsprung

Wiesengrund, Brandenburg

On a former excavation site near Klinge, everything revolves around the Eem warm period some 128,000 years ago, when small lakes lay here. The geotope exposes the layers of a lake that was slowly silting up. Many fossil animals and plants were found in the clay pits from 1891 on, including in 1903 the Klinge mammoth, the first nearly complete woolly mammoth skeleton found in Germany.
