Fränkische Schweiz-Museum

Pottenstein, Bayern

Beneath towering limestone cliffs, this museum fills the Judenhof in Tüchersfeld, a group of buildings on the site of the lower castle destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. Across about 800 square metres and 43 rooms it presents the Franconian Switzerland region: its geology and the formation of the Jura layers, archaeological finds from Neanderthal tools to the Iron Age, many from the Reisberg near Scheßlitz, and a model of Neideck Castle as it looked around 1300.
