Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum

Bochum, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Mining in all its aspects is the subject of this Bochum museum, regarded as the largest mining museum in the world. Above ground, exhibitions covering about 12,000 square metres show the world of mining. Beneath the grounds lies a faithful reconstruction of a mine, of which 1.2 kilometres of tunnels are open to visitors. The museum is also a research centre.
