Deutscher Dom

Berlin, Berlin

The domed tower on Gendarmenmarkt was added to the German Church in 1780–85 for Frederick II. After war damage it was rebuilt with a faithful exterior and a modern interior. It is called a Dom for its dome, not because it was ever a bishop's church. Today it houses an exhibition on the history of parliamentary democracy in Germany, facing the French Cathedral across the square.
