Der Hüttenstollen - Besucherbergwerk und Museum Osterwald
Salzhemmendorf, Niedersachsen
Coal was mined in the Osterwald from 1585 to 1926. A guided tour through the Hüttenstollen, driven from 1842, shows how miners worked in the 19th century and looks back over 145 million years of earth history. The museum adds detail on mining, glassmaking, clay processing and the Osterwald quarries.
