Burg Gnandstein

Frohburg, Sachsen

Above the Wyhra valley stands what is regarded as Saxony's best-preserved Romanesque fortress, begun in the early 13th century and owned for over 500 years by the von Einsiedel family. A late Gothic chapel from the late 15th century in the north wing is a highlight. The permanent exhibition shows historic furnishings and artworks, partly arranged as a visible storage display.
