Brockenhaus
Wernigerode, Sachsen-Anhalt
Right on the summit of the Brocken, this cube-shaped building with a white dome was built from 1983 as an East German state security listening post, nicknamed the Stasi Mosque. Today it is both the Harz National Park visitor centre and a museum. A glass front spanning three floors looks out over the summit.
