Bistumsgebäude St. Pölten

St. Pölten, Niederösterreich

This complex on Domplatz goes back to a monastery built in the mid-17th century and has been the seat of the bishop of St. Pölten since 1785. A monastery stood on the same spot as early as the 8th century, and the medieval town grew from it; the name St. Pölten derives from St. Hippolyt. The Museum am Dom is found here.
