Besucherbergwerk Kamsdorf

Großkamsdorf, Thüringen

This show mine takes you into a sprawling underground workings where silver, copper and iron ore were dug for 300 years. Part of it can be explored on foot or by mine railway. In the Second World War the firm REIMAHG set up an underground armaments works in some sections, and concrete floors, wiring and track beds still show it. Above ground you find a reception building with museum rooms, a machine house and a five-kilometre mining trail past further traces of the old workings.
