Bestattungsmuseum am Wiener Zentralfriedhof

Wien, Wien

Coffins, carts, gravediggers' tools and around a thousand other items illustrate Viennese funeral culture in the basement of Hall 2 at the Central Cemetery. There are curiosities too, such as the 1784 economy coffin with a hinged bottom, a seated coffin and a rescue alarm from 1828. The museum was founded in 1967 and redesigned in 2014.
