Lennestadt, Nordrhein-Westfalen
In Meggen, part of Lennestadt, this museum presents the former mining installations at the Sicilia shaft. Iron pyrite was mined here from the 1850s, chiefly for making sulphuric acid. The area was among the earliest deposits of its kind to be developed in Germany.
