On the grounds of the former Karl Liebknecht coal mine, this museum is devoted to hard coal mining in Saxony. Besides the exhibition rooms, it includes surface installations with large machinery. After a long rebuild it reopened in January 2025 as the KohleWelt, with a fully reworked permanent exhibition.
