Bergbaumuseum Altenberg

Altenberg, Sachsen

Over 550 years of tin mining in Altenberg, from its beginnings around 1440 to the closure of the mines in 1991, are shown here in two settings: above ground in the historic tin-washing plant, and underground in the show tunnel. Tours include a walk around the Pinge, the great mining subsidence pit, and there is a VR tour. You learn how hard and dangerous the miners' work was, on the spot where it happened.
