Beecker Flachsmuseum

Wegberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen

This museum follows the flax plant from seed to cloth. Displays cover sowing, pulling and retting the stalks, breaking, scutching and combing the fibre, then spinning, weaving and the finished linen, plus linseed oil. Beeck was once a centre of flax growing and was known in local dialect as Flaasbeek. The museum occupies a former tithe barn and has a garden.
