Beside the former Berzdorf open-cast mine, now Lake Berzdorf, stands a bucket-wheel excavator of type SRs 1200, built in 1961. It dug lignite and was used for land restoration until 2002, and was once meant for scrap. A local mining-history association now preserves the machine as a monument to the region's mining past.
