Ausstellungs- und Dokumentationszentrum Lager Elsterhorst

Elsterheide, Sachsen

Between 1939 and 1948, one of the largest camps for prisoners of war and expellees in eastern Germany stood here near Hoyerswerda. Only a single hut survives, part of the former camp hospital, and it now houses an exhibition on the camp's history. It stands within the grounds of the Saxon fire service school in Nardt, where visitors simply report to the gatekeeper at the entrance.
