Calculating machines, early computers, books and works of art fill the Arithmeum in Bonn, which traces the history of reckoning. The permanent exhibition, Calculating in Olden and Modern Times, shows how mechanical calculation developed. The 1998 building beside the Hofgarten has a steel and glass facade meant to express the transparency of science.
