Archäologisches Museum des Historischen Vereins für Oberfranken e.V.

Bayreuth, Bayern

Housed in the Italian Wing of the New Palace, this archaeological museum shows finds from the Old Stone Age to the Middle Ages in eight rooms. Most come from eastern Upper Franconia, especially the Franconian Switzerland and the area around Bayreuth. One rarity is a Mesolithic bone splinter with fine net-like engraving, found near Pottenstein.
