Apteka Pod Orłem w Krakowie

Kraków, małopolskie

This former pharmacy stands on Bohaterów Getta Square in Kraków's Podgórze district and dates from 1910. During the war it lay inside the ghetto, and its owner Tadeusz Pankiewicz, the only non-Jewish Pole living there, kept it open throughout. It also served as a place of secret aid and contact for the ghetto's Jewish residents. Today the historic interior holds a permanent exhibition that opened in 2003.
