Anatomical Museum

Innsbruck, Tirol

Skeletons, skulls, and wet and dry specimens make up this anatomical collection of the Medical University of Innsbruck, with about 1,200 exhibits in corridor cases and an exhibition room. Highlights include Ferdinand Hochstetter's dry preparations, painted charnel-house skulls from Austrian mountain regions, and the roughly 2.20-metre skeleton of the castle giant Nikolaus Haidl. It is more a teaching collection than a classic museum, but open to visitors.
