Altenburg- und Stadtmuseum Niedenstein
Niedenstein, Hessen
Three sections lead you through the history of Niedenstein and its surroundings. One covers the nearby Altenburg, the largest prehistoric fortified hilltop settlement in northern Hesse. Another follows the town's story from the mid-13th century, and the third remembers the town's Jewish community, which lasted from 1649 to 1942. The museum is housed in the former post office by Obertorplatz, and admission is free.
