Historisches Museum Schloss Gifhorn

Housed in the Commandant's House of Gifhorn castle, a 16th-century Renaissance building, the permanent exhibition spans four floors and traces the history of the town and district from prehistoric times to the 20th century. A natural history collection of fossils and mounted animals shows regional geology and wildlife, and there is a pharmacy. The adjoining castle chapel of 1547 is part of the visit.
