The first museum in the Šumava region began in 1880 as a single room in Sušice town hall and grew thanks to donations. Today it stands in a house on the town square, with branches in Kašperské Hory, Železná Ruda and Dobrá Voda. Its exhibitions cover the history of the Šumava region.
