Three buildings in Krefeld are devoted to modern and contemporary art. The Kaiser Wilhelm Museum on Joseph-Beuys-Platz is the main house, while Haus Lange and Haus Esters, two villas on Wilhelmshofallee, host exhibitions. The museums have enjoyed an international reputation since the late 1950s.
