A Doric columned porch leads into the Ducal Vault in Weimar's Historic Cemetery, built between 1823 and 1828. The chapel room has neoclassical painting and a star-studded dome. Stairs lead down to the vault, where the coffins of the ducal family of Saxe-Weimar and Eisenach stand. Since 1832 Goethe and Schiller have lain here too.
