In the basement of the Altes Ratsgut, documents, tools of old trades and everyday objects trace more than 770 years of Markranstädt's history. One piece worth looking for is a plaque from the Hotel Rosenkranz recalling Napoleon's visit on 23 July 1807. Entry is free, and the museum opens on selected Saturday mornings in the warmer months.
