On the Obersalzberg, where Hitler turned a holiday retreat into the Berghof and the area became a closed zone, this documentation centre sets the local story within the wider history of National Socialism. The building stands on the foundations of the former Hoher Göll guesthouse of the Platterhof hotel complex. It is close to the bus stop for the Kehlsteinhaus.
