Stadtmuseum Halle

The place to start with the history of Halle on the Saale is the Christian-Wolff-Haus on Große Märkerstraße. This listed group of buildings was home and workplace from 1741 to 1754 to the Enlightenment philosopher and university professor Christian Wolff. The city museum tells the story of the town here, and it also runs branches in the Giebichenstein upper castle, the Red Tower, the Hausmann towers of the Marktkirche and the Leipziger Turm.
