High above the Theresienwiese, King Ludwig I had this three-winged colonnade built between 1843 and 1853 to plans by Leo von Klenze. Inside stand busts of notable Bavarians: 67 from the 19th century and 31 newer ones, including Emmy Noether and Lena Christ. In front rises the great bronze Bavaria, cast after a model by Ludwig Schwanthaler.
