On a spur of land above Allstedt stands the former Ottonian royal palace site, which grew into a medieval castle and was later partly remodelled as a Baroque palace. The museum tells the story of the palace, castle and town of Allstedt. It is a stop on the Romanesque Road, and the outer bailey has places to eat.
