The museum sits in the castle of the Piast dukes of Legnica and Brzeg, built in the 13th century and remodelled in the 16th. Permanent displays cover the prehistory of the Chojnów area, Renaissance tiles found at the castle, the history of the town, old crafts and militaria. The collection numbers over 1,140 items.
