This large art museum stands on Aleje Marcinkowskiego in central Poznań. Inside you will find Polish painting from the 16th century on, foreign canvases from Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany, plus coin collections and a gallery of applied arts. The collection grew from a society of antiquities founded in 1857, with early gifts from Seweryn Mielżyński of paintings, prints and coins. The main building dates from 1904, and a newer north wing was added later.
