Contemporary art gets a generous stage here. In the halls of the former Goseriedebad, which once held an indoor swimming pool, the Kestnergesellschaft regularly mounts solo and group exhibitions. The art association has existed since 1916 and aimed from the start to bring the international avant-garde to Hanover. Early exhibitors included Kandinsky, El Lissitzky, Käthe Kollwitz and Kurt Schwitters.
