Historisches Museum Frankfurt

Frankfurt's history unfolds here in chronological permanent exhibitions: medieval Frankfurt, the late Middle Ages, the 16th to 18th centuries, the nineteenth-century city and the metropolis of 1866 to 2001. The museum stands in the old town between the Alte Nikolaikirche and the Main embankment, around the historic Saalhof. Renovated older buildings sit beside a new building opened in 2017.
