The local history museum stands in the Museumshof am Sonnenluch, a listed courtyard with herb and orchard gardens. It occupies a colonist's house built around 1760. Six rooms trace the town's story from the Bronze Age to recent times, with an original black kitchen as a highlight. The barn covers Erkner's industry, and the attic shows how the town became the cradle of the plastics age.
