Heimatmuseum Dahme

Dahme/Mark, Brandenburg

This local history museum shows how people in the Lower Fläming region lived in the 18th and 19th centuries, with traditional costume, customs and farm life. Further displays cover local crafts, above all the town's former cigar industry and indigo block printing, as well as its club life. The council chamber, furnished with carved pieces from the Baroque to the Neo-Renaissance, catches the eye. Two of Dahme's sons are honoured here: Otto Unverdorben, who first discovered aniline, and the medallist Friedrich Wilhelm Kullrich. A collection of historic postcards of the town rounds off the visit.
