Mähring lies just a few kilometres from the Czech border, and the museum in the former town hall tells of life there: a shared cultural region, expulsion and the Iron Curtain, and the opening of the border in 1990. The vanished village of Lohhäuser is presented as an example, with finds from the demolished settlement.
