Gedenkstätte Seelower Höhen

This memorial in Seelow recalls the battle fought on the Seelow Heights in April 1945, one of the last big engagements before Berlin. The low building from 1972 is clad in heavy, dark timber logs meant to echo Marshal Zhukov's command bunker on the Reitwein Heights. Above it on the plateau stands a monumental statue raised in 1945, and military hardware is displayed on the forecourt.
