Deutsches Buch- und Schriftmuseum

Leipzig, Sachsen

From handwriting to print: this Leipzig museum covers the history of books, writing, printing and paper, rather than literature. Founded in 1884, it stands on Deutscher Platz as part of the National Library complex. The book collection rests on the holdings of the publisher Heinrich Klemm, with prints from the incunabula period to today and manuscripts such as the Elisabeth manuscript of 1481. There is a permanent exhibition.
